Too busy for getting & staying healthy?

82% of Canadians know they can prevent heart disease and stroke, but aren't taking enough action to reduce their risk; this is just one of the findings recently published in a report based on a Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada online survey taken last month. Interestingly, the poll uncovered some regional variations in how Canadians approach their activity levels and eating habits. So, what did people cite as obstacles to healthy living?

  1. Lack of time
  2. Lack of facilities
  3. Cost
  4. Lack of motivation

Regardless of the perceived and real barriers, here are 3 simple actions (as outlined by the report) you can take that will positively effect your chances for a longer, healthier life:

  • Getting 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity per week
  • Eating 5+ servings of fruit and veggies per day
  • Controlling high blood pressure
